As a young girl growing up among the Magnolia Trees of Montgomery County, Jenifer Books had her future mapped out at an early age. And now her dreams of being a teacher when she grew up are finally coming true, but not in a traditional classroom.
Beginning July 5, Jenifer Books will be opening Brightway, The Books Agency’s insurance office in the middle of her hometown of Magnolia. The 47-year-old Magnolian has worked in the insurance business for more than 20 years. However, it is the passion she has had for more than 40 years that has led to this Books’ newest chapter.
“When I was a child, I loved to play school in my room. I would pretend the closet door was my chalkboard and I would line up my dolls on my bed so I could teach them lessons,” Books said.
“Now my career path ended up leading me to my agency, not a school. But with my experience in the insurance industry, I will be able to teach my customers lessons about my favorite subject knowing it will help protect everything important to them.”
Working in the insurance industry throughout her life, Books learned early on that helping customers allowed her to stay true to herself. “Insurance isn’t something most people easily understand. I enjoy getting to educate my friends, family and neighbors on how it all works and design a plan that will work best for them,” Books said.
As for Books’ family, they also know what it takes to serve and protect the more than half of a million people who call Montgomery County home. Her husband, Kevin, served for five years in the United States Marine Corps. Her son, Brandon, has been a firefighter for the past five years. Books hopes he will one day have a burning passion for the business and continue her legacy.
Although she never taught at her Alma Mater, Magnolia High School (’94), Books will be educating and advising customers at the new Brightway, The Books Agency office located at 33130 Magnolia Circle in Magnolia.
