Florida Council on Economic Education Names First Coast Business Hall of Fame Class of 2020

JACKSONVILLE, FLA.  It’s no secret that the First Coast region has a wealth of business and civic leaders. With a history rich in technology, banking, agriculture, hospitality and health care, our historic First Coast has consistently turned out leaders who are varied and notable, and the Florida Council on Economic Education (FCEE) has a longstanding tradition of honoring them annually at the First Coast Business Hall of Fame.

In maintaining Covid-19 protection protocols the FCEE has opted to host this event virtually on Thursday, February 25, 2021. On this special day, a new group of outstanding leaders – Daniel Davis, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, MHSA, UF Health Jacksonville, Karen Mathis, Jacksonville Daily Record, David & Michael Miller, Brightway Insurance, and Brian Wolfburg, VyStar Credit Union will be honored as the Class of 2020. Additionally, we will honor Paul McElroy’s outstanding Legacy of Leadership forever imprinted on the Jacksonville region through his work with the JEA.

For 22 years, the FCEE has been honoring business leaders from Duval, St. John’s, Nassau, Clay and Baker counties for their business accomplishments and civic contributions. Previous Hall of Fame honorees from around the region attend this prestigious event designed to honor the men and women who have made outstanding contributions to free enterprise, have demonstrated business excellence, and are inspiring leadership and social responsibility. The Class of 2020 will serve as role models for all of those who follow. Each of those qualities taken individually is notable. Collectively, they represent a level of achievement rarely seen, and certainly worthy of honoring.

In short, the men and women who have gained entrance to this prestigious group are the backbone of this community. This region is a better place to live and work because of their efforts. Through their collective history of success, they have built a brighter future for the greater Jacksonville region and all of Florida’s workforce.

And the future is exactly what the FCEE is about. Across the state, the FCEE’s K-12 programs foster critical thinking, entrepreneurship, and personal finance skills in youth, building a bridge between what students learn in the classroom and how it applies to their everyday life. We do it because the future of our First Coast youth is the future of the state, and really, the future of our country. And don’t we all want a better tomorrow?

Raymond James Financial has committed to continued support of the mission of the FCEE by renewing their $15K Presenting Sponsorship. Other key sponsors for this event include Drummond Press, Florida Blue, Jacksonville Daily Record, RS&H and Sight & Sound Productions.

Don’t miss your chance to honor these outstanding business and community leaders. Support the cause by joining us for this prestigious virtual awards ceremony. Program sponsorships are due by May 4th and can be submitted directly to the FCEE’s Executive Director, Suzanne Costanza, at scostanza@fcee.org, or by calling 813-289-8489.

The mission of the FCEE is to prepare Florida’s young people for personal and financial success through educational programs in economics, the free enterprise system and personal financial literacy so that they become productive members of the workforce, responsible consumers and wise investors. The FCEE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in its 42nd year of incorporation and is funded by private corporations and individuals throughout the state. The Florida Council is an affiliate of the Council for Economic Education.
