Did you know, in 2015, about one in eight drivers in the U.S. were uninsured motorists? While this number has decreased over the years, it is still important to note that a good portion of drivers would not be able to cover any costs sustained from an accident.

There are specific Auto Insurance policies that can provide coverage in case of an accident with an uninsured motorist. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage reimburses policyholders in any accident that involves a driver who is uninsured, underinsured or in hit-and-run situations.

While 20 states have mandatory requirements for uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, some states still do not require those coverages. In 2015, these states included Florida (with the highest percentage at 26.7% estimated uninsured motorists), Mississippi (23.7%), Tennessee (20%) and Alabama (18.4%). So while these states may not have minimum requirements, it is still important to protect yourself and your belongings with the proper amount of coverage. Be sure to reach out to our office to ensure you have the coverage you need, even when others may not.
